Rational Mind vs Emotional Mind...

I lived in California the majority of my life; Southern California most of that time.  Now I am a Washington resident.

Love it here.  My new home, my new "city", the people. All of it… when I think with my rational mind.

My emotional mind is having issues with it all the last couple of days.  And the rational mind can't seem to get the emotional mind to "chill".

It's most likely because this move had been planned and worked towards for years…literally.  And now I am here.  Starting a new career, a new life, making new friends, doing new things. (Remember emotional mind what we said about new beginnings… remember??)

Mother Nature has been throwing her best at this former SoCal Girl what with freezing temps, snow (a new one for me!), major wind storms, tons of rain… and then… sigh… a chunk of bluff falling off.

Again… nothing that is really too bad and nothing that rational mind can't handle.  Emotional mind:  that bluff thing kinda took the cake… Emotional mind can't seem to get over it… it's a teeny tiny piece of dirt with a bit of grass attached… less than a two by two foot piece… and emotional mind is freaking out… looking at it constantly, wondering why we ever decided to make such drastic changes in a life that was pretty damned good, albeit pretty damned stagnant.

And the score:  0 - 1 Emotional leads...

So... shall give Emotional mind a glass of wine, a nice bite to eat of some comfort food, and send her to bed to play computer games.

Tomorrow is another day!

  1. Any change, good or bad, is stressful, and you've made some doozies of changes to your life and environment. It's little wonder the emotional mind is rebelling and freaking out. It sounds like comfort food and wine are just what the doctor ordered, and perhaps something sweet and decadent wouldn't hurt to follow. :) Before you know it you will be settling in nicely - to the house, the community, the environment, the new venture, and yes, even the weather. Then you can tell the emotional mind, "I told you so!" Until then, be kind and comforting to yourself - which means plenty of good comfort food and wine. ;)

  2. Emotional mind and Rational mind concur on this: There goes the "healthy" diet! Must find comfort food that is healthy as well... Shouldn't be too hard...
